The District Banner Exchange (DG John Wislon passes the governorship to DGE Ray Freaney) This event will be held at Mayfair Farms, 481 Eagle Rock Avenue on Monday, May 24, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm . The cost is $67.00 perperson and includes an open bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres with carving stations and a short program. The Madison Club Installation dinner (President Michel Belt passes the presidency to Liz Parker) This event will be a backyard BBQ held at the home of Barry and Judy Kroll, Friday, May 28, 2019 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The cost is $40.00 per person and is being subsidized by the club. Includes food, beverages fun and fellowship in a relaxed casual environment. Sign up sheets for both events are begin passed around at club meetings. It will be billed to your club account.
It is time again to honor those who served and those who paid the ultimate price in our Nation's history. Memorial Day is Monday, May 27th and we would like to invite as many Madison Rotarians to join us marching in the Madison parade. Please wear a Rotary hat or shirt. Flags will be supplied. 22 applications for Madison Rotary's "Service Above Self" scholarship award were received this year. The top eight students were interviewed by the Scholarship Committee and five students, Emily Axelsen, Sara Massey, Heather McCulloch, Julia Sales and Amanda Smith were selected to receive $1,000 scholarship awards. The students will be recognized at Madison High School awards ceremony to be held on June 20th. All of the students attend Madison High School with the exception of Emily Axelsen who attends Gill St. Bernards.
Welcome Paul Daly (left) and Mark Schwarz (right) the newest members of Madison Rotary. Paul is an attorney/partner at Partner at Hardin, Kundla, McKeon & Poletto. His legal career spans more than 20 years and he has tried both typical personal injury matters and cases involving unusual, complex legal issues. Mark, is the School Superintendent for Madison Board of Education he comes from the Rockaway school district where he served as School Superintendent, Principal, Vice Principal and Curriculum Coordinator. Both are interested in helping the community by participating in service projects, participating in events, and helping Madison Rotary become a more succdssful service organization. “Service Above Self” and “One Profits Most Who Serves Best” both trace back to the early days of the organization. In 1911 “He Profits Most Who Serves Best” was approved as the Rotary motto. It was adapted from a speech made by Rotarian Arthur Frederick Sheldon at the first Rotary convention. Sheldon declared that, “Only the science of right conduct toward others pays. Business is the science of human services. He profits most who serves his fellows best.” At the 1950 RI Convention in Detroit, slightly modified versions of the two slogans were formally approved as the official mottoes of Rotary: “He Profits Most Who Serves Best” and “Service Above Self.” The 1989 Council on Legislation established “Service Above Self” as the principal motto of Rotary,
