On September 21, 2026, the Madison Rotary proudly dedicated a permanent Peace Pole at James Park in Madison, New Jersey, commemorating the International Day of Peace.
The Peace Pole was donated and installed by Madison Rotary and features the universal message “May Peace Prevail on Earth.” The Madison Peace Pole will share this message in seven additional languages meaningful to our community, along with Braille, reflecting the diversity and inclusiveness of Madison.
This meaningful project was spearheaded by Michael Belt, a longtime member of the Madison Rotary Club and Madison resident.
The Peace Pole project was begun in 1955, and Peace Poles stand around the world as affirmations of peace and as reminders of our shared responsibility to build a more peaceful world. Rotary clubs around the world have donated over 250,000 Peace Poles to honor these sentiments. Through this project, Madison Rotary continues its commitment to Rotary’s goal of fostering a culture of peace throughout the world.
