Rotary Leadership Institute was held Saturday, April 20, 2019 at West Orange High School in West Orange. The purpose of the Rotary Leadership Institute is to strengthen your club and strengthen your life. Rotary provides an opportunity for all of us to provide service to our community and throughout the world. The District Banner Exchange (DG John Wislon passes the governorship to DGE Ray Freaney) This event will be held at Mayfair Farms, 481 Eagle Rock Avenue on Monday, May 24, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm . The cost is $67.00 perperson and includes an open bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres with carving stations and a short program. The Madison Club Installation dinner (President Michel Belt passes the presidency to Liz Parker) This event will be a backyard BBQ held at the home of Barry and Judy Kroll, Friday, May 28, 2019 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The cost is $40.00 per person and is being subsidized by the club. Includes food, beverages fun and fellowship in a relaxed casual environment. The Rotary Club of Madison will provide five $1,000 scholarship awards to graduating seniors who exemplify this motto through their volunteer service activities and actions. Examples would include but not limited to participation in a service club like Interact or Key Club, participating in organized mission trips, volunteering to help others, volunteering at a community organization like the YMCA or food bank, scouting, shoveling sidewalks for seniors, raising money to benefit others, etc. Click Read More for additional details
April 7th was a cool sunny day and hundreds of Madison resident took advanage of Rotary's Shred It Day. Additionally Madison Rotary work in conjunction with Habit for Humanity ReStore to collect gently used furniture. The club raised $1280 and additionally 25 50/50 tickets were sold to support End Hunger. Thank you to all of the Rotary volunteer's who helped make the day a success including: Tom Bintinger, Cathie Coultas, Judy DeGennero, Grayson Ernst, Ray Freaney, Ellsworth Havens, Barry Kroll, Frank Mangravite and spouse, Hal and Carmella Moeller, John Morris Liz Parker, Mike Rabasca, Pat Rowe, Joe Smith and Jeannie Tsukamoto - A project well done by all. Over 600 people enjoyed Taste of Madison on March 18, 2019. Proceeds of the event support the three sponsoring organizations: Madison Rotary, Madison Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Development Commission. A special thank you to all who were in attendance and to those Madison Rotarians who volunteered to help make the event a success.
Rotary District 7475 and Madison Rotary say "thank you" to over 1,000 volunteers who packaged 200,600 meals that will all be distributed to those who are food insecure in New Jersey. Volunteers came from local Rotary Clubs, community organizations, churches, youth groups, schools, individuals and families and more. Another special thank your to our lead sponsor Investor's Savings Bank whose generous support made the program possible. We also appreciate the support of Drew University and the use of Simon Forum on March 9th where the meals were packaged. Our program is the largest food packaging in New Jersey and in the Northeast. What was accomplished will make a difference in the lives of hundreds of people. Madison Rotary is seeking additional member to be part of End Hunger 3.6 in 2020. Madison Rotary conducted its annual Spring Reading Project in support of "Read Across America" week (February 25 - March 1). Madison Rotarians visited the Madison second-grade classrooms and read “Andy & Elmer’s Apple Dumpling Adventure” to the children. This project promotes literacy and a love of reading while also introducing the children to Rotary and the concept of The Four-Way Test. The book was developed by a Rotary Club in Ohio and has become a national service event. We also donated 36 "Andy and Elmer's Apple Dumpling Adventure" activity books and boxes of crayons to the Kirby Center. Reading to children has been proven to be the most effective way to improve a child's reading ability because the reader can engage with the child at his or her level of comprehension rather than at the child's own reading level, which might not be at the same level.
