Jan 26, 2023 12:00 PM
Entitled 'Against the Grain'. Every small act of history is a drama of time, place, and people. Welcome to Jamestown, New Jersey where in 1962-1964, six characters intersect in a conflict of change and complacency. During desegregation battles in the early 1960s, one African American family in a leafy NJ suburb experiences barriers more quiet and hidden than in the South. When the oldest child, Fleur, a high school student, gets an after school job in an upscale store on Main Street, she becomes the catalyst for change no one in her town expects. Some want to help her, others want to impede her, and some end up doing both. Fleur learns the limits of trusting her future to others, while making and defending her own decisions. |

Feb 02, 2023 12:00 PM
Dr, Michael Hart, former president of Westfield Rotary and District Governor will talk about The Rotary Club of Westfield, in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Morristown and General Needs veterans service organization, has been visiting and supporting veterans housed at the Hope for Veterans® Transitional Housing housing program on the campus of Lyons VA hospital. These veterans are in the process of recovering from homelessness. The Hope for Veterans program, operated by Community Hope, provides transitional housing as well as services such as mental health therapy, access to employment and educational resources and placement in permanent housing for these men and women.
But they also need to know that our community has not forgotten their service to our country. The Rotary effort helps to communicate this in a tangible way. Each week, Rotary volunteers are delivering a special luncheon for 80 veterans each week as a way to brighten their day and tell them that we remember. The meals are prepared by local restaurants.

Apr 22, 2023 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Greetings All,
Madison Rotary will be conducting our annual spring Community Shredding Day and will be joined by the ReStore truck. The truck from Security Shredding will be there from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon. We are in need of volunteers to help clients unload their cars and direct traffic, etc. A two hour shift would be great. We are also in need of volunteers to help put up and take down tents, tables and chairs prior to the truck arriving. If you can help with this please arrive by 8:30 a.m.
Just in time to help you with your spring cleaning and make room for Holidays, the Madison Rotary Club will host another Community Shredding Day. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, April 6 at Municipal parking lot #1 at the corner of Prospect Street and Kings Road by the Ambulance Squad. The event is open to the public. It is not necessary to be a Madison Resident.
Security Shredding, Inc. will provide secure destruction of sensitive documents, after which the shredded papers will be recycled into other paper products. Avoid identify theft. Stay and watch your documents being destroyed on the truck-mounted shredder. Cost is $5 per box or grocery bag. Larger containers will be priced accordingly. As this service is also a fund raiser, all proceeds from the shredding event will be “recycled” by the Madison Rotary for future community projects.
Also on hand will be a truck from Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, which will gratefully accept area residents’ new or very gently used home building materials, lighting and plumbing fixtures, hardware items in original packaging, fine art and collectibles, and furniture and other home furnishings in excellent condition. Having the ReStore truck come to Madison is a convenience for would -be donors, as the ReStore facility is located in Randolph. ReStore’s inventory is 100% donated by businesses and individuals and sold to the general public at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds are used to build affordable homes in Morris County and surrounding areas. According to Morris Habitat for Humanity, “donations to ReStore have built more than 30 homes in Morris County and have kept over 10,000 tons of reusable materials out of landfills since 2007.”
Please let me know if you can join us that day so we can raise some funds, have some fun, and provide community service.
